If the drivers won't install then we'll run through how to clean any old drivers and do a clean install of the nvidia drivers to see if they will install now.

If the problem is still there unhide the driver again in win 10 and try installing the 2nd older nvidia driver if that installs fine, again hide it, and run through the shutdown, restart process again and see if the problem is gone this time.

Then i'd download both the drivers ztrucker linked to in above post, try installing the newest first, if it succeeds and installs, go into win 10 and then hide the driver so it won't get updated auatomatically at any time, next turn off the pc for a couple of minutes just to make sure the card isn't still using any old settings and clears itself now start the pc and see if the monitor problem has disappeared, if so all well and good and with luck you'll never see it again. Ok first thing i'd do is make sure no driver updates are hidden in win 10, no idea if this will or will not interfere with trying to install the graphics driver if it's hidden by win 10 but i'd do it anyway just in case it does. Not to worry, i get confused all the time. When I download the file it starts to install the says failed. go to the site below and look at the Video (15 Files). Just saw this so you have an onboard video port and for now Dell is going as fast as they can to get drivers updated. If you know what driver you need and have installed it before and everything worked fine then use that one, remember now if the video drivers were ok before you made them hidden then you are good to go for now, no need to re-install. If you are not having any problems with your video card right now then you should be good to go, otherwise follow what Terry1966 and Ztruker have already replied to you with, my reply is only for you to stop updates from MS if your Nvidia drivers are good to go or you had problems with it in Windows 10, I am not sure what kind of video card you have or is it an onboard video port because your Dell has about 3-4 different video driver brands, if you know post back your video card brand and what model, you did mention Nvidia so I am assuming that is what it is we just need to be sure, let Terry and Ztruker look it over since they are helping you, but do let us know about your monitor problem or if it is ok now. Now having no experience whatsoever with win 10 the best i can do is link you to a google search that may have topics that contain a solution on how to stop win 10 from automatically updating drivers you've manually installed. Not sure what graphics solution you have, nvidia, amd or intel but here's links to all 3 to get those drivers too. Latest dell driver for that monitor i can find is from 2011 so not sure if that will work with win10, no harm in trying it i guess :.

To be honest peter i think your problems probably stem from the graphics driver and not the monitor driver so even though you download or upgraded the graphics driver manually and it fixed your problem for a short while, i believe win 10 may be over riding those drivers during it's update cycle and re-installing a driver that is causing your issues with the monitor so until win 10 solves all it's teathing problems with updates and drivers, you may be stuck with this problem for a while.
